To celebrate a year since the launch of reforms opening up government contracts to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), the Department has made available progress update on its action plan and is publishing a selection of case studies which show how relationships have been built with SMEs through our tendering activity.

The reforms were announced by the Cabinet Office in February 2011.
The Department fully recognises the important role played by SMEs in meeting its diverse contract requirements alongside the benefits they can bring to the UK economy and has welcomed the implementation of these reforms.
